1931 Union Defence Force Stirk Shield Medallion

The Union Defence Force was established in 1912. Then in 1957 it was renamed to the South African Defence Force.

No 2 District was based in the Eastern Cape. The Albany Commando was a light infantry regiment that formed part of the Infantry Formation and the Territorial Reserve for the Union Defence Force.

The Stirk Shield was awarded to the best shooting regiment. This medallion was awarded to G.D.R.A LT. H.W.Will
