A Union Defense Force Shooting Medal. The competition was sponsored by Major C.P. Heydenrych in 1935-36. The major was a career soldier, first serving with th Rand Rifles during the Boer War and ending as the Honorary Colonel of the East Rand Rifles.
Enamelled silver. British sterling silver hallmarks on the back. 35.2 mm (with ring) x 23.2 mm. Mass 10.2 gm.
