Country: Kenya, Uganda & Tanganyika
Issue: King George VI Pictorial Definitive (New Value).
Value: 40c (40 Cents).
Color: Blue & Black.
Subject: Crowned Cranes .
This stamp shares the same design as the 20c stamp you showed earlier (featuring the national bird of Uganda, the Grey Crowned Crane), but with a different value and color scheme.[ ]
Issue Date: 1952 .
Philatelic Note: The original 1938 set did not have a 40c value. This stamp was issued purely to meet a change in postal rates very late in King George VI's reign. In fact, it was issued just weeks/months before the King died, meaning it had a very short usage period before Queen Elizabeth II stamps replaced it in 1954.
