1938 Voortrekker Centenary Silver Medal

A Silver Medal to Commemorate the Centenary of the Voortrekkers  in 1938. Struck for presentation by the Mayor of Johannesburg to Members of the City Council with many unnamed medals remaining. 

Sterling Silver. "925" at the bottom of the design on the obverse.  Diameter 38.3 mm. Mass 28.5 gm. Comes inside a presentation case from the Chamber of Mines for the Union of South African Jubilee (1910-1960). The medal fits snuggly so the case is correct but why it should been reissued 22 years after the medal was made is a puzzle.
