Large Buddha, in yellow copper on embuya wood base.

The story of this specific Buddha dates back as a marriage gift from a groom to his bride in the 1940's. Since it arrived home with them on their new journey as husband and wife, it was a main feature in the lounge, on top of a hand carved wooden table, until both husband and wife passed away in the late 1990's.

In all of this Buddha's story dating back to his beginning with his bride and groom, please bear in mind, the brave souls that proudly owned a Buddha with the general mindset at the time towards spirituality. The groom worked for the Spiritualists Church at night, and was an advocate by day. A man highly respected by all who encountered him, as being as steadfast in mind, body and spirit... as the Buddha teaches.

The Budai figure appears throughout Chinese culture as a representation of contentment and abundance, it is said that rubbing his protruding belly will bring the bearer wealth good luck and prosperity.
