From 1942 onwards the composition changes from copper-nickel to copper-brass as it was cheaper due to the British being strapped for cash due to the war .
Copper-nickel Weight 5.84g Size 25mm Thickness 1.7mm
Prior to 1945, this was the highest value coin which was not minted using silver - other, higher denominations such as 1/4 rupee (4 anna) and above were minted in silver.
Since it was the last in the series, less of these were minted as usual. Mintage: 10,760,000.
