1942-F Germany 1 Reichspfennig – KM#97

A desirable 1942-F Germany 1 Reichspfennig, catalogued as KM#97, struck at the Stuttgart Mint (mint mark F) in zinc. Issued during the Second World War, this coin formed part of Germany's wartime circulating coinage after zinc replaced bronze to conserve strategic metals for the war effort. The obverse features the German national eagle above a wreath enclosing the period emblem, while the reverse displays the denomination within an oak wreath. These wartime zinc issues are historically significant and remain popular with collectors of German, World War II, and world coinage.

Due to the reactive nature of zinc, surviving examples commonly exhibit oxidation, corrosion, and surface deterioration.
