Struck in 1949 during the reign of George VI, this British Half Crown features the bare-headed portrait of George VI facing left by Humphrey Paget. The reverse displays the crowned quartered shield of the Royal Arms flanked by the denomination ½ and Crown.
The 1949 issue was struck in cupro-nickel following the post-war change from silver coinage, making it one of the later Half Crowns of the George VI period. It remains a popular and affordable coin for collectors of British and Commonwealth coinage.
Condition - VF
A well-preserved circulated example with good detail remaining on both the portrait and reverse shield. Light circulation wear and a few scattered marks are present, but the legends are clear and the overall appearance remains attractive.
