This item is a South African Children's Day commemorative token from 1952. 
The token features text in both English ("Our Children's Day") and Afrikaans ("Ons Kinder Dag"). These medallions were issued annually in South Africa for several decades, with similar designs appearing for years such as 1937, 1939, 1953, and 1957.
