Market Value

In this choice AU condition, the coin typically commands a premium over

heavily circulated examples, placing its retail value between R 450 an R 650

on the local South African market.

The obverse side of the coin reinforces an overall grade of About Uncirculated (AU-55 to AU-58).

Final Grading Evaluation

-     Detail Wear: The Union Buildings motif shows incredibly crisp detail. There is only a

trace of friction wear across the long rooflines and the top of the two main towers.

-    Test & Rims: The Bilingual motto "Eendrag Maak Mag - Unity Is Strength" remains

perfectly sharp. The outer rim and the decorative denticles are fully defined with no

major flat spots or dropsy impacts.

-     Surface Condition: The fields retain a soft, satin like mint sheen. There are faint

hairline handling marks scattered in the empty space between the lettering and the

building, but nothing that breaks the surface deeply.

Combined Value Summary
Having reviewed both sides, the piece is a highly preserved specimen that narrowly missed staying in Mint State. Its complete retail value sits firmly at the top tier for raw examples, ranging from R550 to R650 to a dedicated collector.
