On the 25th of July 1960 during the last Union Day Celebrations just prior to South Africa becoming a Republic in May 1961 the All Blacks toured South Africa officially for the last time before the end of Apartheid. Girl Guides and Boy Scouts that went to support the Springbok Rugby team were given this flag. It is 45cm x 75cm, has a rib on the side for a staff. This same flag design was for a short time used as the South African Naval Ensign prior to the Green Cross on white being adopted. As far as can be determined this flag was not on sale at Rugby venues.
This is a very rare item and is in mint condition.
