Presenting a fantastic miniature sized art glass piggy bank produced by the now defunct English glass makers Cascade.
This stunning piggy bank has been crafted in a gorgeous clear glass and has a most appealing clean-lined modernist form. His fabulous stylized features add to the charm and appeal.
This superb piece is very similar in nature to the piggy banks made by the Scandinavian glass makers, Holmegaard, with the main difference being the lack of the raised knobbly surface and the differently shaped snouts. It has come to light that the Cascade glass factory did infact produce some pieces for Holmegaard, including uncased Gul vases, but no information is currently available linking Cascade to the production of Holmegaard piggys. The distinct similarities in both design are clearly obvious.
There is no stoppered opening for retrieval of coins, and it appears the piggy bank was designed to be smashed once full. This unusual design feature makes it hard to believe many of these fantastic banks would have survived.
This design was produced in two different sizes. This example is the smallest and rarer of the two.
SIZE: This gorgeous art glass money box stands approx 75mms tall, measures 90mms in length and 60mms in width.
CONDITION: This fabulous piece, dating to circa 1960s, is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This money box has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly.
A superb addition to any mid century modern art glass, Cascade glass, piggy bank or money box collection!
