ON AUCTION IS THIS N43 MK II ARTILLERY/TANK GUN AND NAVAL PRIMER, COMMONLY USED IN FIXED AND SEMI-FIXED CARTRIDGE CASES (SUCH AS THE 4.5-INCH NAVAL GUN).
 
DESIGNED TO BE SCREWED DIRECTLY INTO A BRASS CARTRIDGE CASE. FEATURES STANDARD EXTERNAL THREADING MEANT TO BE SCREWED DIRECTLY INTO THE BASE OF A METALLIC ARTILLERY SHELL CARTRIDGE CASE.
 
The long, hollow brass tube attached to the top of the primer body wood have contained a fast-burning powder composition. When the firing pin strikes the percussion cap at the base, it flashes upward into the vent tube. The tube features tiny, precisely drilled radial flash holes along its length to evenly shoot jets of flame horizontally into the primary propellant pack, ensuring immediate and uniform ignition of the main artillery charge.
 
PRIMARILY UTILIZED DURING THE MID-20TH CENTURY  COLD WAR ERA (1950S TO 1980S) IN MEDIUM-CALIBER NAVAL ARMAMENTS, SUCH AS THE Q.F. 4.5-INCH NAVAL GUNS AND VARIOUS Q.F. 4-INCH AND 4.7-INCH GUNS.
