Material: Cupro-nickel, as silver was phased out of this denomination. 

Reverse Design: Features a royal crown surmounting a crossed torch, olive branch, and a rose, thistle, and shamrock. 

Status: It was legal tender until 1971, with a decimal value of 2 1/2 new pence.
