| Notes: | Coert L. Steynberg (1905-1982) was a renowned South African sculptor best known for his statue of Paul Kruger, found at the Kruger-gate, Kruger National Park. The representation of the statue on this medallion was also designed by him. His most famous coin design is the prancing springbok first produced for the silver 5 Shillings piece in 1947 and subsequently on the gold Krugerrand. The Minister of Lands, Piet Grobler, successfully moved the National Parks Bill in Parliament on 31 May 1926. |
