In 1994 the SA Mint will for the first time produce and market the NATURA coin series. The unique 24 carat (999,9 fine gold) coin series is characterised by a nature theme and will portray a different animal each year. The series will consist of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, gold coins.
The obverse will portray the head of a mail lion whilst the reverse of each coin in the series will depict a different scene in the everyday life of a pride of lions.
