 19th Century Candle holder 1850-1900 era Ref.W3

A difficult item in identifying its origin, but, I believe it was from India and carved somewhere between 1850 to 1900.
The Candle Holder depicts two hand-carved birds, possibly ducks or doves, supporting a metal base above for a candle. The complete article has been carved out one single block of hard wood, quite a feat in its own. Imagine the patience and time it would have taken to carve this piece. Unfortunately, the one bird has lost its head, but, this does not detract from the overall appearance. There are some remnants of a orange-yellow paint.
Look at the base, and you will see two 'square' holes.I believe this was for fixing the candle holder to a sprocket on the side of a wall so it could light up the room. Easy to remove, if you wished to place the candle holder on a table or to carry it with you to another part of the house.
It is seldom that the simple, every-day objects of a home from this age survive and this piece is well worth your attention.
The 'Candle Holder' measures 10.5 cm high, 13 cm in lenght and 10 cm in width and weighs 730 grams
