DIMENSIONS: Length - 29cm

An EXCELLENT example of a 19th Century Ottoman Turkish Empire, Jambiya Dagger with Gold & Silver Damascene Inlay. This piece remains in a well-preserved state, featuring beautifully rendered Arabesque Damascene scrollwork in precious Gold and Silver. The Steel Blade retains an exceptionally sharp tip and cutting edge , displaying a mild surface patina. Carefully applied Mother of Pearl scales adorn the mid-section of the Hilt and appear to have lost 2 or 3 pieces due to age-related handling.

A Stunning item combining elements of form & function , such as this - would have belonged to a regional Governor or Pasha / Beylerbey from either Damascus or Aleppo in Syria. The Ottoman Jambiya , was considered not only a good means of self-defence , but more importantly as a symbol of rank & distinction in the Turkish Sultanate.

The ideal addition to any 19th Century Ottoman Turkish or Middle Eastern Dagger collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique piece for their assortment.
