1oz Mandela/de Klerk Protea coin
South Africa has had several illustrious leaders throughout its history, but perhaps the most celebrated are Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk. These men were instrumental in ending Apartheid and their achievements are celebrated worldwide. The 1oz Mandela/de Klerk Protea coin was minted to honour these Nobel Peace Prize laureates and it is a fitting addition to any coin collection.
Celebrating South Africa with Protea gold coins

Protea coins provide investors and coin collectors with a lucrative way to celebrate South Africa. The obverse side of each Protea coin is emblazoned with a detailed image of South Africa’s national flower, the King Protea.

Each year, a theme pertinent to the country and its people is chosen and represented on the converse side of the Protea coins minted that year. Past themes include nursing, the mining industry and 10 years of democracy.

From 2005 to 2007, the theme was Nobel Peace Prize winners. Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk were chosen to be represented on the 2007 1oz Mandela/de Klerk Protea coin. These respected men were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993, just one year before South Africa’s first democratic election, in which Nelson Mandela was voted president.
Limited edition gold coin

Purchasing gold in the form of coins is an affordable way to own this precious metal. Gold coins are usually valued at the market price of the gold that they contain. However, not all gold coins are valued equally. Investors and numismatists will know that Mandela coins are excellent investments. Because they are emblazoned with Nelson Mandela’s image, their value increases rapidly. Owners can rest assured that they’ll enjoy a significant return on investment should they decide to sell their Mandela coins.

Moreover, only 7,000 1oz Mandela/de Klerk Protea coins were struck. Their rarity makes them a sought-after purchase.

Currently valued at over R27,000 and rising. Encapsulated and boxed and includes certificate. Payment due within 48 hours of auction end. You are most welcome to collect from me and pay me upon collection. I will only accept Cash / EFTs. No cheques. I can also ship overnight insured to anywhere in SA. Shipping costs are R120 and insurance is 1% the value.
