1st-3rd century Roman/Greek(?) oil lamp
Here we have, what appears to be, an unrestored Roman/Greek(?) oil lamp, in the shape of a face and having three separate 'nozzles' for wicks. Fully intact, with no obvious flaws apart from a firing crack under the lips and a similar firing crack on the base, I can find no evidence that they are fakes nor any restoration. Based on the research I have done on 'Roman' oil lamps, I think these are more likely to be early Greek. Dating is very difficult as I am no expert on this subject, but the style points to around 1st to 3rd century. Although many ancient Roman/Greek/Egyptian oil lamps have been found, very few appear in the shape of a 'face'.
The size is roughly 10 cm long x 5.5 cm wide x 6 cm deep.
