1st Edition of Charles Dickens' The Life of Our Lord - 1934.

The Life of Our Lord was written by Charles Dickens between 1846 and 1849 as a personal manuscript for his children. Dickens intended it as a simple narrative of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, aiming to instill Christian values in his family. He deliberately chose not to publish the work during his lifetime, considering it a private gift to his children. He also instructed that it remain unpublished during the lives of his children.

After his last surviving child, Sir Henry Fielding Dickens, passed away in 1933, the manuscript was published in 1934, compiled by Geoffrey and Mary Dickens, two of Charles Dickens' descendants. The publication was handled carefully to respect Dickens' wishes as closely as possible under the circumstances.

This cherished work, originally written for his children in 1849, offers a unique and intimate glimpse into Dickens' faith and his unparalleled writing style. This edition is particularly sought after for beautiful narrative for children.

This particular leather bound copy is in good condition. Showing minimal wear consistent with its age. While one end of the spine is slightly worn, the entire binding remains intact. The pages exhibit the expected yellowing, but remain clean and bright, making this still a beautiful and enjoyable reading copy.
