These First World War German Fernglas 08 field glasses were manufactured by the firm of Emil Busch A.G. Rathenow. In 1908 a contract was let by the Imperial Weapon Office with Optische Anstalt C. P. Goerz Gesellschaft m.b.H for all infantry commanders (in the Prussian, Würtemburg, Saxon and Bavarian Army’s) to be equipped with a standard set of binoculars. These binoculars, which were known as Fernglas 08 were to become the standard German infantry binoculars on all fronts in WW1 and were produced by a multitude of sub-contracted manufacturers. The Fernglas 08 is a Galilei type binoculars with a cast metal body and a field of view of 77.4 m/1000m. The magnification field glasses are in very good original condition. The optics are still in very good condition and still perform extremely well. The non-slip finish over cast steel casing of the optics is patinated consistent with age and use but seen in pic's a lot is missing This is an excellent First World War German Fernglas 08 field glasses from a very highly regarded manufacturer in very good condition.
