2 Antique German Gesteckpfeife style smoking pipes for 1 bid - unused. Also known as a Jaeger Pipe, German hunter pipe, German Porcelain pipe, Tyrolean pipe, and Wine Pipe, I would date these pipes to the early 1900s. The pipes have a porcelain bowl and resevoir (or abguss) - the bowl would be packed with tobacco, and the resevoir was sometimes filled with wine to flavour the tobacco. The bowl has a plated hinged lid. The stems are made from a wood stem, and the tips appear to be horn or bone. The bowls are hand painted with 2 deer and a stag respectively. The pipes are large measuring 37cm long, and are in very good (unused) condition. Great buy for the collector - 1 bid for both pipes.
