Budai was a popular, Chinese, wandering Buddhist monk in the 10th century. All what he owned he had with him in the carpet-bag to the right. You can google the legends about him. Was acquired from a collection of Chinese and South-East Asian artifacts and buddhas. A nice piece to add to your collection.
