Plectranthus oertendahlii is an attractive shade-loving groundcover and incredibly remarkable potplant with silver variegated leaves that are attractive throughout the year. Plectranthus oertendahlii has somewhat succulent leaves and stems that root as they spread along the soil. It develops into small, low clumps of about 200 mm high. The upper surface of the round, broadly serrated leaves is clearly marked with silver veins while the bottom is an eye-catching deep crimson. The plants feel somewhat coarse because of the short hairs on the leaves and stems. It flowers from late summer to winter with a climax in autumn. The small whitish flowers, frequently tinged with pink or mauve, are held above the leaves in upright spikes.
