The design on the  coins,while depicting typical football images and trademarks of 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa, remain truly South African by featuring national symbols from various host Provinces,symbols from the South African coast-of-aems ans Nation symbols.

Set combines teh R2 (1/4 oz, 24 carat gold) coin struck in 2006 with the R1 ( 1/10 oz, 24 carat gold) coin struck in 2009. On the observe of each coin the year,national coast-of-arms and the words 'South Africa' are  featured.

Official Emblem of the Fifa World cup features as the main element on the R2 coin together with symbols representing the handing over of the Fifa World Cup from Germany to South Africa. Zakumi, the Official Mascot , takes  centre stage on the R1 coin, within the outer circul the galjoen, the national fish of South Africa, is featured together with the sun and traditional African patterns which are both derived from the coast-of-arms.
