Apple MacBook.
The notebook for everyone.
At $999, the new Apple Macbook is the best deal going in Apple’s laptop lineup. It's got pretty much all the features of the MacBook Pro, including unibody construction, nVidia graphics, an LED backlit display. The new polycarbonate MacBook is equipped with:
All of this is achieved while being only 2.74cm thick and weighing only 2.1kg. You’ll find a MagSafe power adaptor, Gigabit Ethernet, Mini DisplayPort, USB, and audio in/out all placed on the side of the laptop. A perfect upgrade or suggestion for the person looking to switch to a Mac. The construction is exceptionally strong and rigid thanks to the unibody design

This MacBook is only 13 months old and still in excellent condition. Unlike typical removable batteries, the built-in battery in the new MacBook can last up to 1000 charges, or five years of normal use. I tested the battery condition with a free Mac App called Coconut Battery. As you can see, the battery is still like new - expect 5-7 hours of battery life.
The MacBook comes with the latest Mac OS X Snow Leopard installed (10.6.7), as well as iWork, iLife and Microsoft Office 2011. The MacBook is easy to open up and upgrade yourself. Just remove eight screws on the bottom plate, carefully clip it off everything is easily accessible. Upgrading the hard drive is easy - you can upgrade right to a 1tb hard drive. You can upgrade the RAM to 8gb -which should cost less than R900 at current prices.
I am also throwing in a mini-displayport to DVI adapter so you can connect an LCD monitor. This can cost hundreds of rands from Apple!
