Buy the highly desirable 2011 Chinese 1 oz Silver Panda Coin. The Chinese Silver Panda is a favorite among collectors and investors, and the 2011 1 oz Silver Panda Coin has not disappointed. The reverse of the 2011 Silver Panda is an adorable portrait of a mother Panda and her Cub set amid a bamboo grove. The 2011 Chinese 1 oz Silver Panda Coin comes in brilliant uncirculated condition, and is packaged in its own individual capsule.
China first began minting Silver Panda coins in 1983. However, between 1983-1985 only proof quality Silver Panda Coins were produced. These coins also differed from later versions by being just 27 grams of .900 fine silver. Mintages for these years were capped at 10,000. From 1986 to present, Silver Panda Coins were 1 troy ounce, or 31.1 grams of .999 pure silver.

Rear/Reverse
The reverse or rear design of the Silver Panda Coin changes every year (except 2001 and 2002 which have the same design). The 2011 Silver Panda shows a well fed Panda cub and its mother relaxing amid a bamboo grove. The detail of the 2011 Silver Panda design is exceptional, with even the fur texture on both mother and cub visible. The reverse also includes the inscription “1oz Ag .999.”
Front/Obverse
The obverse of the Silver Panda contains a highly realistic depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The inscription on the obverse includes the year, and Chinese characters that translate to “People’s Republic of China.”
Collector Notes
The Chinese Silver Panda is a favorite among collectors, and many specific Silver Panda coins command a substantial premium over the spot price of silver. There are a number of factors that impact the collectability of Silver Panda coins including year, design, mintage, proof, gold plated/gilded, colored, and privy marks. For example, annual mintages of Chinese Silver Pandas before 2010 were well under 1 million. In fact, certain years in the 1990s had mintages that were just 100,000. 1997 had the lowest annual mintage with just 50,000 silver Pandas minted. The paucity of Chinese Silver Pandas minted in certain years have made them desirable collectibles. It should be noted that since 2010, annual Chinese Silver Panda mintage has exceeded the 1 million mark, hitting 6 million in 2011.
