The Australian Silver Kookaburra series of coins is an on going issue of beautiful .999 fine silver bullion coins from Australia’s famous Perth Mint that celebrates one of the country’s great national symbols: the Kookaburra. Native to Eastern and Southern Australia, these iconic birds are the largest members of the Kingfisher family and are known across Australia for their distinctive song and for the tenacity with which they defend their nests. Since their introduction in 1990, Silver Kookaburras have been prized by collectors who eagerly await the unveiling of a new design each year. We currently offer these stunning coins in the one dollar denomination, which contains one troy ounce of pure silver and measures 40.60mm in diameter. As mentioned above, the Australian Silver Kookaburra is issued annually with a new design on its reverse. The obverse has continually depicted Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, but the reverse receives a new portrait of a Kookaburra in varying poses and settings each year. This yearly design renewal has made the Australian Silver Kookaburra one the world’s most collectible bullion coins.
