• The Natura coin reflecting the Black Rhinoceros is included to highlight the plight of rhino at the hands of poachers
• The 20 cent coin reflecting the King Protea which is one of the country's national symbols
• The Farthing in use from 1923 to 1960 which depicts two Sparrows on a Mimosa branch
