Introduction: On the day of the 9/11 attack in 2001; many unfortunate souls lost their lives, while others bravely risk their own lives to save as many people as possible. Those survivors then had to endure the tragedy and bounce back to start a new life. In honor of all these people who showed great strength, courage, and hope in the face of this horrific event, US Mint has released the 2011-W 9/11 National Medal Proof (w/Box & COA). This medal has been authorized by the National September 11 Memorial & Museum Commemorative Medal Act of 2010

Medal Features: Contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Proof Condition. Minted by the US Mint at West Mint Branch and has “W” mint mark.

Obverse: Features Lady Liberty holding the Lamp of Remembrance in both her hands. On the background are two beacons of light stretching skyward. Inscriptions: “2001-2011,” “ALWAYS REMEMBER,” and artist initials. Designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

Reverse: Depicts an eagle on a backdrop of cascading water. Inscriptions: “HONOR,” “HOPE,” “W” mint mark, and artist initials. Designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Joseph Menna. Medal comes encapsulated and hand packed in a US Mint issued presentation case. Comes with a certificate of authentication. 100% authentic and guaranteed by the U.S. Mint.
