The 2015 Kookaburra celebrates 25 years of the popular coin series. To commemorate this event, the Perth Mint has used the original design, as first issued in 1990. The kookaburra coins are very appealing to collectors, as the reverse design changes each year.
Each coin is struck from 999 fine silver and contains one troy ounce of the precious metal. The coins come in protective capsules. Only 500,000 of these coins were produced.
The obverse displays the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth coinage portrait.
The reverse of the kookaburra coin depicts one of the birds perched on a tree stump, with leaves and ferns in the background.
