The South African mint launched a new series of silver coins in 2019 focusing on the Big Five native animals on the African continent. In fitting fashion, the collection launches with an image of the African elephant. The hard to find first in the series, 2019 1 oz South African Big Five Elephant Silver Coins is available here.

Coin Highlights:
Each 2019 1 oz South African Big Five Elephant Silver Coin in this product listing is individually packaged. The coin is housed inside a capsule that the South African Mint ships in blister packs that feature artwork for the entire Big Five Series. The coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The packaging is unopened.
The blister pack that houses the Big Five Elephant Silver Coins includes the Big Five logo for the series and a picture of an African elephant. As you open the blister pack card, you will see the reverse side of the coin and two pages with a description of the first release and history of the elephant. Also included in the blister pack is a Certificate of Authenticity for each individual coin and information on the four releases to follow the African elephant in the collection.
On the obverse of the 2019 1 oz South African Big Five Elephant Silver Coins is an image of an African elephant with large tusks. The African elephant genus consists of the African bush elephant and African forest elephant, the former of which is the largest living land mammal in the world today. The South African coat of arms is included in the bottom-center of the design field.
The reverse of 2019 South African Big Five Elephant Silver Coins features the close-up image of two elephants heads. If you look closely, you will see that the elephant on the right of the design field is slightly closer as its ears overlap the face of the other elephant. Both of them stare hauntingly right at the viewer and there is a circular design element in the center with the face value, weight, metal content, and purity indicated.
