2019 2 Oz Aus Crocodile Next Generation in Capsule

In 2018, the Perth Mint introduced a new series called The Next Generation, which launched with the two-ounce Silver Koala Mother and Baby coin. Now, the Mint is continuing the wildly-popular series with the limited-edition 2019 2 oz silver Crocodile coin, featuring a mother and baby crocodile. This .9999 fine silver coin is crafted in the style of traditional piedforts (pronounced pee-ay-fore). Piedfort coins can be traced back to 12th century France, where their name was derived from the french words for heavy weight.

Obverse

The obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Engravings include ELIZABETH II, 2019, AUSTRALIA, 2 OZ 9999 AG, and 2 DOLLARS.

Reverse

The reverse features a mother crocodile gliding through the water against the rising sun, carrying her hatchling on her head. Radial lines and The Perth Mints P mintmark are also included in the design as added security features.
