Sculpted for The Perth Mint by renowned US engraver John M. Mercanti, the coins reverse depicts a swooping wedge-tailed eagle with a snake in its talons. The design also includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, the 2021 year-date, the coins weight and fineness, and The Perth Mints P mintmark.
The coins obverse depicts the Jody Clarke effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
