The 2025 1oz Silver Royal Arms coin is the latest release in The Royal Mints bullion series celebrating the official coat of arms of the British monarch. First introduced in this format in 2019, the reverse design by heraldic artist Timothy Noad presents a detailed depiction of the Royal Arms: the quartered shield representing England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, supported by a crowned lion and a unicorn. Around the shield is a flowing ribbon bearing the traditional mottoes Dieu et mon droit (God and my right) and Honi soit qui mal y pense (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). The background features a fine radial-line texture, both enhancing the visual depth of the design and serving as an added security measure.
This will be the final year that this specific interpretation of the Royal Arms, first introduced in 2019, will appear on the coin, as future editions will feature a new design specifically created for King Charles III. The obverse of the coin bears the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings and introduced on UK coinage in 2022.
Each 2025 Royal Arms coin is struck from one troy ounce of 999 fine silver and carries a face value of £2. As UK legal tender, the coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax (CGT), making it an appealing choice for both investors and collectors.
