The American Silver Eagle is one of the best-selling silver coins in the world. The 2021 release of the coin will be the most exciting in recent memory at the US Mint. Not only is the 2021 Silver Eagle the 35th-anniversary release of the coins, but it will also come with a new design on the reverse later in the year. This is the last year this type 1 design will be available with the long-running reverse design.
Coin Highlights:
American Silver Eagle coins typically outsell any other individual silver bullion coin collection around the world. Even with falling demand in recent years, the American Silver Eagle has still sold several million units each year. In late 2019, the United States Mint announced that a new design would be coming to the reverse of the Silver Eagles for the 2021 date mark as part of the 35th anniversary of the series.
With intense demand throughout 2020, the US Mint will introduce the 2021 American Silver Eagle with its long-running reverse image of the heraldic eagle of the United States on the reverse. By the middle of 2021, the US Mint will introduce new 2021 Silver Eagles with the new reverse design.
Walking Liberty is depicted on the obverse side of 2021 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins. The design of Walking Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and depicts Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon in left-profile relief.
The heraldic eagle of the United States is found on these early 2021 American Silver Eagle Coins. First designed in 1794, the heraldic eagle on this face of the coin was modified by John Mercanti for the debut of this series.
