Is this the collar badge of the 24th Regiment of Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift fame? Provenance: I have been approached by a family here in Vryheid to have a look at some of the family heirlooms. The family and their forefathers have farmed in the Vryheid and Blood River area (not too far off from Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift) since the 1850's. In a small tin, owned by one of the Grandfathers, I found this small badge. I have spoken to a local knowledgeable historian from the Vryheid area and also obtained input from a UK specialist on militaria and badges and both persons agree with a certain amount of probability, that this could well be an authentic 24th Regiment collar badge from the Zulu War of Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift. Have a good look at the photos and decide for yourself if it is authentic. Please study the following 7 photos carefully.
