In summary:
32 Battalion was founded to leverage the experience of African soldiers in conducting counterinsurgency and cross-border operations in Angola and Namibia on behalf of South Africa during the Cold War. Its creation was driven by strategic, operational, and political needs in the context of regional conflicts and the broader global ideological struggle of the time.
