A compressor is oneof this items that is really useful to have, it sure beats trying to blow a tyre up yourself. We believe everybody should have one, especially in this day and age being able to pump a flat tyre yourself rather than waiting for help could just keep you out of trouble.

A compressor has 101 uses over and above the obvious of dealing with a flat; you will suddenly be popular with the kids when their soccer/rugby balls go flat or their bicycle tyre needs pumping, inflating the mattress when you are out camping...

On that last one please make sure you don't forget about it, we were at a trout fishing resort when the guy next door forgot he was pumping up an inflatable mattress. We can confirm they make a very satisfactory bang when they eventually give up!

A bit of advice: it is our experience that you should not run compressors like these from cigarette lighters for extended periods, standard cigarette lighter sockets are generally not built to handle this kind of power for a long time and tend to get rather hot. You may be better off getting an adapter to run it directly from the battery or getting a Heller plug fitted by an auto electrician.
