Four iconic Model 3107 - Series 7, 'Butterfly' chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, Denmark, designed in 1955
This is a double listing as I have listed these same chairs with the table, but am prepared to sell the chairs seperately
Although the design is trade marked there are replicas made (mostly in America), but according to Fritz Hansen's website they are the only ones that do a 9 layer plywood. They say the fakes are too thick and the seats of the fakes eventually crack. As you can see from the rubber supports, they are not new and the seats are in perfect condition. Fritz Hansen now marks there pieces, but the originals were never marked.
ARNE JACOBSEN (1902-1971) was one of Denmark's most influential 20th century architects and designers. Both his buildings and products, like his Swan and Egg Chairs, combine modernist ideals with a Nordic love of naturalism
The four-legged stackable chair can be seen as the culmination of the use of the lamination technique. A technique refined to perfection during the Twenties and Thirties by Søren C. Hansen, the grandson of the founder, Fritz Hansen. The visionary Arne Jacobsen exploited the possibilities of lamination to perfection resulting in the iconic shape of the chair.
The condition of chairs is good. The legs are chromed and have a good shine.
These are original Arne Jacobsen chairs in beech plywood.
