4 Recce / Navy Submariner badge - 5x combined operations in 1984 - (see description)

This is a 4 Recce/Navy Submariner patch.

In the book, "Iron Fist from the Sea" this patch type is described as unique (and treasured) and were issued to Special Forces operator`s & Navy submarine crew after they completed 5x operations together late in 1984.

This patch is apparently from the 2nd batch that were manufactured by Putu de Silva in Durban on request of the submariners, because their were not enough made of the 1st batch. The 1st batch has a slight different stitch. Attach is also a photo of the 1st batch to compare.

There are some dispute between collector`s about the badge. Everyone has their own theory, but it remains unconfirmed whether these badges were procured or not. Putu has passed on, so he can`t confirm anything. However, these specific badges have surfaced on more than one occasion in books and members that were at Special Forces. This specific "2nd batch" badges are also mentioned in Douw Steyn`s book and shown in Paul Els`s book, but no mention is made that they are fake.

This specific badge is confirmed Not to be a modern/current manufactured item. It can also be seen on the thread and texture of the material.
