Rare Collection of South African R1 Coins (1967, 1979, 1982, 1987)
Own a Piece of History: This lot includes four vintage R1 coins from the Republic of South Africa, each offering a snapshot of the country's past. A great addition to any coin collection.
Dates Included:
1967 R1 Coin: Features the portrait of Dr. Hendrik Verwoerd and is minted in .800 silver.
1979 R1 Coin: Features the portrait of Nicolaas Johannes Diederichs and is minted in nickel.
1982 R1 Coin: Features the portrait of Balthazar Johannes Vorster and is minted in nickel.
1987 R1 Coin: Features the Coat of Arms of South Africa and is minted in nickel (though silver proof versions exist, the circulated coin is nickel).
Condition: The coins are circulated and show wear consistent with their age, as visible in the images. The 1967 coin has some discoloration, which is typical for silver coins of that era.
Details: The reverse of all coins features the iconic Springbok antelope emblem and the motto "Soli Deo Gloria".
