400 Days - The Life and Death of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland by Sir Roy Welensky (1st ed 1964) Signed Large A5, Hard cover, 383 pages. Cover slightly worn. Book in good overall condition.

SIR ROY WELENSKYThe British politician who served as the 2nd Prime Minister of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland Sir Roland "Roy" Welensky (1907-1991)  was a politician who was the second and last prime minister of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. He was firmly against black majority rule in the African territories under Britis rule. Accordingly, during his time as Prime Minister, he fought to keep the reins of power in the hands of the white minority. Moreover, he used his power to quell politically motivated violence that occurred in Rhodesia. His efforts were ultimately unsuccessful, and Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland became Zambia and Malawi respectively, while Southern Rhodesia became Zimbabwe. In his youth, Welensky was briefly the boxing champion of Southern Rhodesia.
