Allophylus natalensis Seeds

Dune False Currant; Duinebastertaaibos

Allophylus is a tropical and subtropical genus of shrubs and trees, with around 200 species recognized by some botanists.

Allophylus natalensis is an evergreen shrub or small up to 10 meter tall. This tree is ideal for coastal gardens and also makes a good screen or windbreak. The bark is smooth or wrinkled and greyish-brown in colour. The stem is sturdy and multi-stemmed while the crown is dense and spreading. Minute, white to cream, sweetly scented flowers are perched in between the pale green foliage.
