Baptisia australis or Blue Wild Indigo as it is commonly known is a perennial wildflower that is well worth the wait! Large clusters of blue pea-like flowers make quite a show in the spring! Attractive charcoal seedpods then form, which were once used as rattles for children. This is a rigid, bushy wildflower that can live for decades, and is very drought tolerant! It grows 60cm to 90cm in height, should be spaced 60cm to 90cm apart and be planted in full sun to part shade to perform at its best.
