Dipcadi viride Seeds

South African Indigenous Perennial Bulb

Dipcadi is a bulbous genus in the Hyacinthaceae family found in Africa, the Mediterranean, and India. Flowers are bell-shaped or tubular. Dipcadi viride is a South African indigenous species from the Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape, North West and Western Cape Provinces. It was previously known as Dipcadi elatum, Dipcadi geniculatum, Dipcadi palustre, Dipcadi umbonatum and Ornithogalum viride. In English it is commonly kninty Green Bells or Green Lily and in Afrikaans it is known as Gifbolletjie or Grootslymuintjie. It grows to 1m tall and also does well in pots. During summer it bears green to brown recurved flowers.
