They are great for autumn decorating, and fun to grow. The Jack O' Lantern is a fairly easy plant to grow, and will reward you with great pumpkins for carving, as well as delicious seeds for snacking! It is a tasty cooking pumpkin and tastes just wonderful in soups, muffins, casseroles, pies, and many other nutritious dishes. The Jack O' Lantern Pumpkin plants form 20-25cm fruits that are round to oblong and weigh around 4.5kg each. The rind is a ribbed bright orange with orange-yellow and thick flesh.

The seeds are easily kept over the winter in a cool dry place. In the spring once all danger of frost has passed they can be planted and harvested in autumn. The seeds can be planted 2-3 at a time 15cm apart in a shallow hole 5-10mm deep. Place the seeds in the hole and cover with soil. Tamp down well. When the seedlings emerge they can be transplanted, or left as they grow. Hill up the soil around the plant to give it support as it grows. The Jack O' Lantern will mature within 110 days.
