Kniphofia drepanophylla Seeds

South African Indigenous Flowering Perennial

Kniphofia (Red hot poker, Torch lily, Poker plant) is a genus of plants in the family Asphodelaceae that includes 70 or more species native to Africa. Some species have been commercially used for horticultural use and are commonly known for their bright, rocket-shaped flowers. These plants produce spikes of brightly-coloured, hanging, red-to-orange flowers. This gives names such as "torch" and "red hot poker" to many of them. Kniphofia drepanophylla is another impressive species that grows to 50cm in height. This one is perfect for borders and to soften the edges of pathways in the garden. This gorgeous plant has curved pale yellowish green leaves that have toothed margins which just add to the overall appeal of this plant. This species is best sown in spring. Hardened off plants enjoy partial shade to full sun to bear attractive greenish yellow flowers.
