Leonotis leonurus Seeds

Leonotis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Lamiaceae. It comprises 9 species of which 8 species are endemic to southern Africa.

Leonotis leonurus is a shrubby perennial growing 2-3 meters tall and producing orange tubular flowers.

This plant has a long history of ethnobotanical use. The dried flowers, when smoked, provide a mild sedation reminiscent of Cannabis. They have a history of use in South Africa as an intoxicant.
